A to Z of MS Eliprodil

Eliprodil is an NMDA (glutamate) receptor antagonist, which means that it alters the transmission of messages between nerves.

In laboratory based models, eliprodil has been shown to produce some degree of nerve fibre protection and to promote myelin repair through increasing important signalling mechanisms between cells. Eliprodil has been investigated as a treatment for Parkinson's disease and there have been very early laboratory trials in MS.
