Event details

Challenge yourself to trek to the summit of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK!

This is your chance to see some of Scotland's most breathtaking scenery with magnificent views across the Grampian Mountains. At the same time you will be raising vital sponsorship to help people living with MS today.

Standing at 1,344 metres above sea level, the summit of Ben Nevis is the highest point in the UK. Climbing to the peak is a demanding but rewarding challenge which will take you out of your comfort zone, but it is sure to be an experience you'll never forget!

The natural beauty, dramatic landscape and the Scottish weather make it a real outdoor adventure, and a great test of your mettle if you are considering taking part in a longer trekking challenge. You’re out in the elements and you'll get a fantastic sense of achievement, all helped by a friendly close-knit team and a hot chocolate (or pint) at the bottom to celebrate.

Take part on your own, or encourage friends, family or colleagues to join you to make this a team effort. Join us to tackle the highest mountain in the British Isles and make a real difference for people with MS.

There is also an option to take part on a self-funding basis, where you would pay for the cost of your place (£95 reg fee + £350) and raise whatever you can in sponsorship.

Book your place

Fundraising for the MS Trust

We understand that fundraising can sometimes be just as much of a challenge as the event itself, but our dedicated fundraising team will be there to support you every step of the way. We will be there to get you started with our brilliant fundraising pack and will be in regular contact with support, advice and ideas.

As a MS Trust fundraiser you will also receive a free MS Trust branded t-shirt for you to wear as you train and during the event itself.

We recommend that our fundraisers use Just Giving to collect sponsorship online. It is quick to set up and you can easily share your page with friends, family, and colleagues to reach your fundraising goals. Plus, everything is seamless. The money you raise, as well as Gift Aid, is sent straight to us as the MS Trust so that's one less thing to worry about! Frequently Asked Questions

Are there alternative dates?

We may be able to find alternative challenge dates with other tour operators. If you'd be interested in taking part on another date please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

How fit do I need to be?

You certainly do not have to be an athlete to complete this trek, but it is advised that you train in order to get the most from this experience. The terrain on this trek is tough but do not fear, we will provide you with a comprehensive training guide and are always on hand to help you with training tips in the lead up to departure.

What if I don't reach my fundraising target?

We'll keep in touch in the run up to your event and so if it looks like you might need to give your fundraising an extra boost, or if you might need some more time after the challenge to reach your target, we'll be there to help. We can discuss different tips to boost your fundraising or even maybe help you to plan an event.

We set a minimum sponsorship amount as we have to pay the costs of your place from what you raise in advance of the challenge. You'll have to have raised 80% of your target 12 weeks before the challenge weekend and we know that it can sometimes be tough to raise this much so far before you've even started hiking. That's why we'll help get your fundraising going right from the moment you register. We'll never suddenly turn around and expect you to have raised the money.

Can I take part if I have MS?

Many people with MS take part in our treks without any problems, but this is a physically demanding event so you do need to be generally fit and have a good level of mobility. We always suggest that you check with your doctor before signing up to the trip if you have MS or any other pre-existing medical condition. If this trip isn't for you, perhaps you might be interested in one of our other events such as Miles for MS or the Jurassic Coast Challenge

When will I receive my t-shirt?

Once you've completed your registration, a member of our fundraising team will be in touch to welcome you to team MS Trust. They'll ask for your t-shirt size then and it will be sent out shortly afterwards. You can expect to receive your t-shirt within a couple of weeks of registering onto the challenge.
