The MS Trust is a small charity making a significant impact within the NHS by training and providing specialist MS Nurses and Advanced MS Champions. Supporting people with MS from diagnosis right through to palliative care, we are with them throughout their MS journey helping to make sense of MS.

Situation
130 people are diagnosed each week with MS. Specialist healthcare provides support and knowledge to make sense of each individuals unique experience of MS. Through our MS nurse mapping survey we have identified the need for 149 Specialist MS Nurses within the NHS. The funds to place these much needed health professionals are lacking and the initial specialist training and continuous professional development would be non-existent without our accredited training and resources.
Solution
The MS Trust are working to place 5 MS health professionals within the next 12 months in the areas of greatest need. The charity will pay up to 80% of the salary for each post for a minimum of 15 months before the NHS take on funding. We will provide accredited training and resources for these posts, along with hosting our annual conference for over 300 health professionals across the UK ensuring those MS specialist are receiving the latest insights and knowledge to best support their patients.
