Girls only buffet night

On Saturday 7 October, Lorna Ross held a 'Girls Only Fundraising Buffet Night' in Lonmay Public Hall to raise money for the MS Trust. The evening was a great success and raised £1,000!

Lorna has MS and wanted to get involved in our new fundraising event, so decided to invite a few friends round for a supper. However, the idea escalated and she ended up with 80 guests from all around the local area!

Lorna decided on a 'girls only' theme for the evening as, being part of a farming community, most of the boys were busy working. Guests ranged in age from Lorna's 14 year old niece to 'girls' nearing their 80s.

The girls were served a cold buffet, freshly prepared by Lorna and friends, which was followed by a few games of 'duck' bingo. Coffee and home baked cakes calmed everyone down, just in time for the grand raffle prize draw.

The evening was heavily supported by local butchers, farm shops and many other businesses, who gave generously with either money, raffle prizes or donations towards the buffet.

Lorna gives a big thank you to all those companies who donated towards the evening, and special thanks to all who helped with preparations and tidying up afterwards! However, the evening would not have been so enjoyable without the enthusiastic participation from all those girls who turned up to support the event.

The MS Trust would also like to say a big thank you to Lorna for all her hard work, and thanks to all who supported her efforts.
