Top tips for a successful supper

There's nothing better than spending an evening with good company and good food in support of a great cause. Here are a few tips to help your supper go smoothly...

Be prepared...

  • Make sure you find out in advance whether there's anything your guests are allergic to or don't like.
  • Buy slightly more food than you need, because even the best chefs make mistakes!
  • Make sure that jobs such as marinating are done the night before and do as much preparation beforehand as possible.
  • Consider making your starter and pudding cold or easy to prepare in advance so you can concentrate on the main course on the night.
  • Make sure you have plenty of drinks in stock; you don't want to run out halfway through your evening!

On the night...

  • Wash up/load the dishwasher as you're going along. It will save on clutter and will save you a lot of hard work after dinner!
  • If you get a chance to take a photo or two we'd love to see them and will put the best on our website.
  • Remember the essential ingredient is to have fun so if your preparations don't go completely to plan, don't let it ruin your night. Just smile, relax and enjoy yourself!

After the event...

  • Collect in all donations and invitation cards and send them to the MS Trust with your completed host donation form. We will write to thank you as soon as we have received your donation.
  • If you'd like us to write and thank anyone who was particularly generous, or any restaurants/venues/companies etc. that supported your supper, we would be very happy to do so.
  • What was on your menu? Any tips to share? We'd love to hear how your supper went and if you have any tips that you think might benefit other hosts, please let us know.
