A year of great achievements for fundraiser Jon

Dedicated MS Trust supporter Jon Burch has had quite a year. He has go-karted, cycled, released balloons, learned to swim and is currently in training for a triathlon and half marathon, all in aid of the MS Trust.

Jon's year of fundraising began when he signed up for our London to Paris cycle ride to support friends who have MS. His ride took place in April this year and he raised £1,800 in sponsorship, saying "The sense of achievement is amazing, especially with the amount raised for MS in such a short time."

Following the London to Paris ride, Jon did a 12 hour static bike challenge in Scarborough during MS Awareness Week, where he collected more donations and helped to raise awareness of the condition.

The personal trainer from Driffield has held fundraising events at a local fish and chip restaurant and a go-karting track, as well as organising a balloon release on Scarborough seafront to help him reach his fundraising targets. His next challenge is to complete a triathlon and half marathon all in one weekend!

Jon has had to learn to swim as part of his training for the 'tri for life' event, which will take place at Woburn Abbey on 15 September. The day after the triathlon, he will be up in Newcastle to run 13.1 miles in the Great North Run. To help with his fundraising, Jon has set up a sweepstake on the new Guess2Give fundraising website for both of these events. If you would like to have a go at guessing Jon's time for his triathlon or half marathon, you can do so by visiting his sweepstake pages for the tri for life or the Great North Run - only £3 a guess!

Jon says, "I cannot explain how much I have enjoyed (and am still enjoying) the fundraising - it's hard but the money keeps coming providing I keep working on it!"

We are so grateful to Jon for all his hard work and support so far and we wish him the very best of luck in the tri for life and the Great North Run later this month.
