Website
Two important new features have recently been added to the website
Stay Active!
Fancy fencing or fishing or football?
Or how about sailing or shooting or skiing?
Or maybe something more leisurely - birdwatching or bowls?
These are just some of the activities covered in the new Stay Active section. Visit the pages, pick up ideas and tell us about any new sports you have tried out, groups you have joined, tips you'd like to pass on.
Map of local services
Following the success of the map of specialist MS services, the MS Trust has now launched a trial version of another map that shows a wider range of services across the UK. The trial focuses mainly on Hampshire and Hertfordshire but we welcome comments from everyone.
Target MS
Target MS is a new booklet published by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry. Written by Dr Stephen Bartlett, a well-respected medical author, the booklet aims to provide people with information about multiple sclerosis and the development of new drug treatments in a clear concise style.
The section on the central nervous system and multiple sclerosis is illustrated throughout with clear and vivid diagrams which help to make sense of the complex functioning of the immune system.
The real strength of this publication is in the section on new and developing drugs. The rationale and mode of action of new therapies currently in development and early stage clinical trials are described. Details of how medicines are authorised and the phases of clinical trials are explained and a table of marketed and experimental medicines for treatment of MS, including the stage they have currently reached in clinical trials is featured.
The MS Trust is delighted that pictures by four of the finalists from the Art of Movement competition have been used to illustrate this publication.
