The importance of reliable health information
The MS Trust believes that people should be able to make decisions about the management of their condition based on information that has been reliably tested using robust scientific methods. However, we realise that this information is not always available.
If we can help you find the independent and impartial information you need about MS, email the MS Trust Information Service or ring us on 01462 466700
New book
A new version of the MS Trust's book Disease modifying therapy: what you need to know will be published in early spring. This includes updated information about the beta interferon drugs (Avonex, Betaferon and Rebif) and glatiramer acetate (Copaxone), a new section on natalizumab (Tysabri), and discussion about the use of unlicensed therapies in the treatment of MS.
- Until the new edition appears, the previous edition of Disease modifying therapy is still available to read online
The publication follows the relaunch of the MS Decisions website. MS Decisions is an independent source of advice for people deciding whether to embark on disease modifying therapy for MS and if so, which of the available drugs to choose.
Factsheets
The publication of Spasticity and spasms in November 2008 brought the number of MS Trust factsheets to 20. The regularly reviewed and updated factsheets cover a wide range of topics, including symptoms (pain, fatigue, cognition), treatments (natalizumab, alemtuzumab, mitoxantrone), non standard therapies (LDN, diet) and issues such as talking about MS with family or friends.
MS Trust online
There are now more ways to keep in touch with us and share your thoughts, ideas, experiences and photos with others. A new Interactive section brings together links to our Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Flickr sites, as well as the MS People UK discussion list. A new feature is the Baby, Me and MS blog, following someone with MS through pregnancy and the birth of her first child.
