MS Trust information service

As well as the publications, factsheets and, of course, Open Door, a key part of what we do is the personal information service. We believe that people with MS should be actively involved in the management of their condition. To help with this, we gather together reliable, independent information that can help people decide how to approach their MS.

We deal with a wide range of enquiries about MS, from anyone affected by the condition - people with MS, their families, health professionals, and more. Questions asked can include queries from people recently diagnosed, calls about treatment options for a new symptom, requests for more information on research news that has been in the press - and many, many more.

Kids' guide to MS - new book

cover of the Kids guide to MS

The MS Trust has published the Kids' guide to MS for children who have a parent with MS.

Aimed at 6-10 year olds, this is a book that children can read on their own or with an adult. It provides basic information about MS, covers some of the tricky questions that kids may find difficult to ask and addresses the feelings they can experience when one of their parents has the condition.

In an earlier issue of Open Door we asked for your help in planning the content and design of the new publication. A big thank you to all the mums, dads and kids who told us what they wanted in the new book and helped it take shape.

A companion book for parents, looking at issues around discussing MS with children will be published later this summer.

First MS Trust talking book

If you have recently been diagnosed, MS: what does it mean for me? provides a practical introduction to MS to help you to maintain a positive attitude to managing your condition.

The newly launched audio files mean you can listen to the book at your leisure in one continuous stream or in shorter sections. So, whether you find reading hard on the eyes, or just fancy listening to something different on your computer or iPod, why not give it a try?

Primary progressive MS book

We are working on a new book to provide more information for those with a diagnosis of primary progressive MS (PPMS), exploring both the physical and emotional aspects of the condition and its ongoing management.
