I am a growing woman. ..man am I growing! Sometimes the Swedish saying “growing so much you are creaking” comes to mind, as every night it feels like the stomach is very hard, and the following morning it pokes out even more. Apart from when I am wearing my baggy jacket, I don’t think you can not see that I am pregnant anymore. (more…)

Beloved child has many names…
10th February 2009 by Hellie
That is an Swedish idiom of sort, that my mum must have operated by, as I had lot’s of embarrassing nicknames. I would like to say as a child but some of them she still calls me. As we are now entering month 7 we are starting to get more and more questions regarding names. It is very tricky as there will always be someone who hates that name, that you think is lovely. My own Grandmother really disliked my name as she had an old aunt called the same, and she was an evil old woman. (more…)
Sick, sick and more sick
8th February 2009 by Hellie
I haven’t been able to blog for awhile as I have pretty much been tucked up in bed since Tuesday evening. The cold I wrote about then, developed into something else. I had been coughing all day and started to ache in my lungs, when I suddenly had a thought that maybe it was really nasty heartburn, so I tried to call the midwife to find out what I could take for it, but she was not in. As the pain grew stronger and stronger, I tried to call NHS direct for some advice. This was when the fun started. I won’t write the whole thing down as it will get very boring, but it ended with a GP calling me up and telling me I needed to go into an out hours service at the hospital and be checked up. I was in pain but felt a bit silly. But got I a taxi up to the hospital and the GP diagnosed me with a respiratory tract infection and a “fruity” (his words not mine) cough.

Coughing, Snow and Braxton Hicks
3rd February 2009 by Hellie
Still lots of snow around, I still haven’t ventured outside. Today it all looks very lovely out there with the blue sky and the sun. Had I not been carrying around junior this is the perfect weather for a walk really. But I was chicken today too, so I stayed at home.
Also I seems to have developed the world’s fastest cold, Last night I started coughing and sneezing and today I feel really rough, pains in joints, back and head. I got that really awful dry cough that makes your throat seem like it is burning for several minutes after it. Not much fun, sorry to whinge.

Snow Day
2nd February 2009 by Hellie
As I said in the post I wrote at lunch, I was working from home today. Don’t think I have ever seen this much snow since I used to live in Sweden. Of course all travel is still crazy, and nobody has been here to sort our street either. Yesterday when we went out for a meal with a friend I was holding on to Steve for dear life, walking on the ice, and that was without the snow. I am scared to think how many people have fallen over out there today!
