Went to our final NCT course today. This time it was about breastfeeding, sleeping patterns and C-sections. I have really enjoyed all 3 days that I have gone to, the group is great, the teacher was fab and I am really happy we went. As I mentioned before we were singed up for NHS courses as well. We have since dropped out of these, two reasons mainly; 1 they were on the same day as the NCT courses and it just got a bit too much, I was exhausted the day after, there was also a lot of overlap. 2 there were so many people there that didn’t want to be there, young dads sitting in the back grumbling about being there instead of taking part, girls looking bored rolling their eyes at the questions we were meant to discuss. Braxton Hicks Rocks
28th March 2009 by Hellie
When I first read about Braxton Hicks i thought they would feel quite diffrent from what they do. This whole feeling of a stomach that is rock hard is rather weird. I am starting to feel like my torso is carved from wood, bending over is becoming harder and harder. I have to pratice my monkey foot skills and try and pick things up with my toes instead when I drop things…maybe not when I got shoes on.
Kitchen stuff is going ok, tiling and flooring was done this week, so now we only got painting left to do and then unpack things get some new chairs. This is what it looks like at the moment, you can still see the walls are that strange mintgreen that makes me think of going to the dentist.

So getting there slowly…

The Viking Gene

I keep on mentioning that my grandfather had MS but haven’t really blogged that much about him, and as I have nothing much interesting to tell about myself today I thought I’d let you know a bit about my Farfar (Swedish for grandfather translates to fathers-father). His name was Folke and he was a metalworker spending his day by the lathe. He was the youngest of 5 siblings; they also had one foster brother. His family came from a long line of something called Statare, agricultural laborers that worked without getting paid instead they got to live on the farm. (more…)
Fed up
24th March 2009 by Hellie
I am getting quite fed up with being this big. I can see why people start their maternity leave earlier, trying to sit down and be comfortable at work, or really in any chair, is getting tricky. Yesterday there was so much movement and activity, I almost thought something was about to happen as there was a pushing feeling at the top of the belly too and it was starting to hurt a bit. As I am typing this there is a lot of stretching going on too, kicking has mostly stopped, I guess it is getting crowded in there. All this discomfort makes it rather hard to relax or sleep, so my fatigue is back tenfold. But I guess I only got a week and a half left to work, then I can hopefully try to relax a bit. Hopefully by then the kitchen is done too, it got tiled today and is getting floored tomorrow.
Now it is time to watch battlestar galactica!

Bright Sparks
22nd March 2009 by Hellie
Just come back from a great weekend in London. It’s funny but when you no longer work or live there I really enjoy London. But I do feel like a tourist walking around. The tube is still a pain, haven’t had a single person offering up their seat for me and I hate the pushing. Got a bit of that as we walked through Soho for a bit. But once we went up to Kentish Town, I was ok. The hotel we stayed in was nice and I had a lovely time having dinner with Steve and a friend before the gig. She got me a Moomin book, which I was chuffed about. I used to love the moomins as a child, still think the artwork and stories are great. (more…)
