Busy busy

12th March 2009 by Hellie

Had a few days of being very very busy, mostly at work, but at home also as we are still sorting out the kitchen. Will try and update with some pictures this weekend. We are going to Ikea on Saturday…yay… I actually do look forward to at as well as dread it, I am getting more and more tired physically so if we are going to be there for hours it will be draining. Need to pick up a new table and chairs for the kitchen, and also a cot. I have also decided that I wanted to do a “I am going on maternity leave” lunch for my last day of work, so I need to raid Ikea’s food shop for goodies.

Something strange happened baby/body-wise on Wednesday morning. I woke up with a huge nasty pain in the small of my back, it was extremely painful, so much I got tears in my eyes. But after a few minutes when I tried to stand up, the pain went and never came back. My friend thought it was maybe Pelvic Girdle Pain but as it only lasted for maybe 5 minutes I really don’t know. It didn’t feel like the Braxton Hicks I got before either. So I don’t know, any ideas?

Right better eat some dinner and go to bed, I stayed in the office to 18.45 today and my brain feels like mashed potato

Football and networking

Last night when I came home, I collapsed in the sofa as I was so worn out. My bump felt hard as a rock and I was rather uncomfortable. So I sat down with my laptop and started surfing around a bit, writing my blog, looking at facebook, all the usual stuff…and then it started kicking like crazy. You could see the whole belly move. It was like a football match or an aerobic workout going on in there. I almost at one point thought he was deciding he’d have enough and wanted out.  It went on for a long while and felt very odd, not painful or anything, but it’s just strange, like nothing I have ever felt. Insurance

9th March 2009 by Hellie

Oh very tired today, it was a very busy day at work, and it didn’t help that my lunch break was spent at the bank talking to an insurance guy.  If there is one thing I dislike more than anything it is sorting out insurance. First of all I am very bad with figures and numbers to start with and my attention tend to run away when people start talking about things like insurance. Anyway I had set up this meeting as I wanted to find out about the possibility of having critical illness cover. I have mostly heard no before, when you have MS you are persona non grata for a lot of this. Or they will welcome you with huge open arms, and a just a huge monthly rate to pay. (more…)

Annoying

8th March 2009 by Hellie

I think I have already said we got the wrong pram/buggy/travel system ( I never know what to call these things) delivered the other week. Well last weekend we went to John Lewis to have a look at the one we were sent to see if we should keep it. But we decided against it as it was bigger than the one we wanted. (more…)

Beat the Clock

The MS Trust has a countdown on their MS Awareness week page for when the next MS awareness week starts. Today it says 39 days until it starts.  That means it is 41 days to my due date. Yes ironically the baby is due during MS awareness week. So for some more numbers: Today it is exactly 4 weeks before I go on maternity leave, well actually I start off with one week holiday, and officially the maternity starts on the 14th of April. (more…)
