A year ago I found out I was pregnant, it was the 25th of August and we had just come home from a long weekend in Dublin and after buying some tests at Sainsbury we found out we were to become parents. It all felt rather strange and surreal. We had a very busy year 2008, we had gone to the US, Sweden, Ireland, Finland and the Dominican Republic, both been very busy at work and gotten married. And all that in the first 8 months of the year. We thought we would get some traveling out of the way before we would try for a family in July, I expected it to take awhile to get pregnant so got a bit of a shock when we stood there on the 25th with the positive pregnancy test in hand as it was just a month later. Sleeping, Crying and Teething
19th August 2009 by Hellie
Went to see the health visitor at the heath centre yesterday, had my little guy weighed and asked if our suspicions about him teething were correct, and it does seem that he is. She did point out it may be a few months of yet before we actually get to see any pearly whites. So we can try some teething gel if it gets really bad. So far we have only given him Calpol. He is not too bad really, but if something else is something else is bothering him like lack of food or sleep, then he can have a huge crying fit were the tears are flying and his little face goes tomato red.
Mum with cold + son with teething = not so good

I seem to have caught a cold. I guess in these flu seasons I am lucky it is only a cold. The news have really scared me about swine flu and for a while I was just thinking about how to avoid it non stop. But since Monday I have been sniffing and sneezing. Not great, I am feeling rather blerghy. And to make things worse I think Tycho is teething, he is drooling like a trooper and chews on his fist and fingers all the time. I have also spotted something on his gum in his lower jaw that looks a bit like something raising underneath. Now the drooling I can take, I seem to be just as soaked as him at times, but at times he cries and cries and cries. A wailing cry whilst chomping away on his fist, and his sleeping has become worse. He was actually sleeping from about 11 pm to 7 am but now he doesn’t want to go to sleep and he wakes up around 4 crying. I was planning on taking him down to the health centre this week to ask if my suspicions are correct about the teething before I start applying bonjela and giving him Calpol, but since I got this cold we have been stuck indoors sniffing and drooling together!

It is true what they say…

it does get easier! Tycho is now three and a half month. He is out of the very low weight curve. He was last time we weighed him 5.2 kilos. So still a little chap but climbing up that curve in his own speed. He also likes his sleep. Well not napping, Napping he doesn’t really do at all still, but he does sleep about 7 hours at night. In the beginning I thought this was crazy and used to wake him up half way through, now I let him wake on his own. (more…)
