I have been jabbed!

30th November 2009 by Hellie

Got my swine jab on Saturday. Seems I only need one jab. Felt fine afterwards, injection-site a bit painful when it was touched and lumpy looking!

owieBut no flu symptoms or anything else, touch wood.

11 hours

of sleep is what Tycho had last night! Well at one point he woke up but went back to sleep as soon as Steve went upstairs and put his music box on. Hopefully he will start sleeping through the nights once again. He now has got two teeth in his bottom jaw, but I think one is on it’s way in the upper one too as he has been having teething pains all of today, but atleast it doesn’t keep him awake at night any longer. Happiness is…

When you have a hard night with no sleep, arm and leg feeling fizzy and you are so tired you hardly know your name, you may wonder why you wanted to have children in the first place.  But only for a second or two, then you are reminded about why it is so amazing.

Sleep deprived and Guilt

15th November 2009 by Hellie

One thing I have learnt about being a parent is whatever you do you will feel guilty.Guilty about weaning too early or too late. Guilty about not being able to get your child to sleep through the night. Guilty about letting them sleep in your bed. Guilty about taking your child along to a restaurant and making the other guests hear him screaming. Guilty about not being able to breastfeed. Guilty about breastfeeding for too long, guilty about nursing him to sleep and the list goes on and on. The funny thing is that us people don’t tend to tell each other things like “oh you shouldn’t be eating that” or “go home you shouldn’t be out at this hour, these things seems to be reserved for your mother to tell you. But when you have a child it seems like people you just met feel they have a right to tell you off for doing things wrong. (more…)

More piggy flu and rest

2nd November 2009 by Hellie

Went to see the Neuro last week. It was all good, he was very pleased to see that I am doing so well. I have now gone two years without a relapse! He said that I should wait with going on any drugs for now, but go for it if I get worse. He said whatever I am doing, I should keep on doing it. I told him I had big fears about fatigue before I had Tycho, but even though I sleep far less than I used to, I am less fatigued than before him. I put this down to laying down with him when he naps and when he goes to sleep. Even if I don’t sleep I get a rest. A rest that you don’t get at work. Well saying that, in my old office I used to go and lay down on a sofa or in a rest room if it got really bad. I actually think most offices could do with a rest room, or a simple sofa to have a rest on in your lunch break. Not only for people with MS. A friend of mine had to take naps during breaks at work during her pregnancy to get through the days. (more…)
