Baby, MS and Me Home

Heat, smiles and weightgain

Tycho finally put on some weight this week. We have been running operation Hanzel here, feeding him up. I gave in to giving him some more formula, so he get 3 bottles a day with formula, plus anything I have managed to express. I refuse to do what the GP said last week and “pack it in” as the breastfeeding for me is very important. Yes I have to think of my own health and not stress out over this, but comforting a sad and crying baby with a bottle…well it just isn’t the same. Plus he gets terrible wind after gulping down the bottle and cries after each bottle feed. Each to their own I say, you just got to do what is important to you and your baby, if that is breastfeeding, mixed feeding or formula feeding. But during this last week he put on 200 grams, and the gp was happy.

Yesterday and the day before has just been too hot, the heat brings out my fatigue and I get to a rather useless stage. I was always worried about the idea of sleeping with the baby in our bed, but I have found that laying down on the bed feeding him, is vey relaxing. Even if I don’t get to sleep. I get to shut my eyes and rest, and if I am lucky he falls asleep and I can lift him into the basket.

Tycho has started to smile! What they call social smiling, he has been doing crooked halfsmiles since week 5 but now you get proper full on full face glittering eyes smiles, and they are fantastic and as soppy as it may sound, makes it all worth it! I haven’t been able to catch one fully on camera, this one below is as good as we got at the moment.
