It is 06.46 Sunday morning, we have just had a feed at 6 o’clock were Tycho really just wanted to sleep. Now i am downstairs expressing milk, to try and up my production. Tycho has lost a pound since birth and we have to feed him at least every 3 hours now. During the last few days I don’t think i have been sleeping more than maybe 1 or 2 hours. I guess people weren’t kidding when they say the first few months you’ll never sleep. This week if he doesn’t put on more weight we might have to think about adding formula to the feed too. I really don’t want to do this, so i do everything I can to feed him and get my own production going.
He cries a lot, and doesn’t sleep much as he is hungry most of the time, Steve can maybe keep him calm for an hour tops, but then the only thing that will do is milk, so it is tricky to get those Zzz’s in there at some point.
This night i have struggled a bit with a heaviness to my right arm, not sure if i should worry yet, but likely it is just a side effect to the extreme fatigue. The scar is healing, but i can’t walk very far or do much without it starting to hurt, so it is fair to say I am getting a bit of cabin fever.
But as cheesy as it may sound all this is worth it just seeing him. Every time after i have manged a tiny bit of sleep the first thing I want to do, is get up and peek at him.
I just hope he’ll start gaining weight soon, so he’ll be a bit happier and all 3 of us can get some more sleep!
