Flu Jab and Fatigue

19th January 2010 by Hellie

Tycho who is teething like mad, I can see several white pegs coming through now, went for his Swine flu jab today. I wouldn’t think babies remembered 4 months back but he seemed to know exactly what was gonna happen and started crying as soon as the nurse told us to put him on the bed. Poor Tyke :(

So far so good, he is still troubled by his teeth and has lots of gum pains, but doesn’t seem to fussed about the injection. I guess we’ll have to see how the night goes. He is already yawning plenty.

My fatigue is bad today. I guess it comes from weeks of no proper sleep. It feels like gravity suddenly changed and my body is made of lead. I really hope for the teeth to pop through soon so we can go back to full nights sleep. Oh glorious days of 11 hours sleep, how I miss thee!

Goodbye Tummy Bug Hello Teething

17th January 2010 by Hellie

Yes, the tummy bug is gone. It took him more or less 10 days before he started eating properly again. However he is still refusing food from jars. So it is only home-cooking that works. Oh well I guess it is better that way anyway!

But the teething is back, three new teeth in the upper jaw are showing up. With the teething are the sleepless nights back once again. I don’t think I have had a proper nights sleep for over 2 weeks now. So it is fair to say my fatigue is not happy. Or indeed it is happy and back. Makes me wonder what it will be like coming back to work when I can’t lay down and have a rest during the day. If it wasn’t for the two naps he has when I lay down with him, I don’t think I could even function. It does scare me a bit what it will be like going back to work, I do miss working, but I wonder what my fatigue and all that malarkey will do. I have been so lucky not having any relapses, so I guess it is far to say the more stressed and tired I am the worse my MS gets. So I really hope that things will be ok once I got back to work too. More piggy flu and rest

2nd November 2009 by Hellie

Went to see the Neuro last week. It was all good, he was very pleased to see that I am doing so well. I have now gone two years without a relapse! He said that I should wait with going on any drugs for now, but go for it if I get worse. He said whatever I am doing, I should keep on doing it. I told him I had big fears about fatigue before I had Tycho, but even though I sleep far less than I used to, I am less fatigued than before him. I put this down to laying down with him when he naps and when he goes to sleep. Even if I don’t sleep I get a rest. A rest that you don’t get at work. Well saying that, in my old office I used to go and lay down on a sofa or in a rest room if it got really bad. I actually think most offices could do with a rest room, or a simple sofa to have a rest on in your lunch break. Not only for people with MS. A friend of mine had to take naps during breaks at work during her pregnancy to get through the days. (more…)

6 months

23rd October 2009 by Hellie

On the 22nd Tycho turned 6 months! I can’t believe how fast times moves. We are both doing ok, well better than ok, I love being a mother and he is such a little bundle of fun. Sure it is hard work when he wont sleep at night or when he cries a lot due to the pain of teething. But it is all worth it! (more…)

Bananas, Potatoes and Swedes

13th October 2009 by Hellie

we have been giving Tycho solid food for a week and a half now. This week he is having 2 meals. It is all going rather well, he doesn’t like sitting in the highchair much so mostly I have him on my lap. So far his favorites seems to be sweet potatoes and pear mixed with baby rice. Tomorrow I am intending on trying out banana. I am myself allergic to banana, but I really hope he will not have inherited that as it is a handy fruit to have on the go. (more…)
