The Danger of Comparing

20th December 2009 by Hellie

As a mum or I guess as a parent you end up whether you like it or not comparing your child to others. It start with those charts and graphs, then the other babies at the health centre, your own mother will tell you how you compared to your own baby and so on and so on. Tycho was very small for the first 4 months or so, but from 6 months he has grown and grown and grown. Now he is just about 8 months and he is already in 9-12 clothes. People keep on telling me he is huge. One other mother even referred to him as enormous, her own boy is about 4 months older than Tycho and is smaller. I still think Tycho is a lovely boy big or tiny. But there is some hidden or in some cases not very well hidden competitiveness in all babies do, weigh, eat etc etc. (more…)

11 hours

27th November 2009 by Hellie

of sleep is what Tycho had last night! Well at one point he woke up but went back to sleep as soon as Steve went upstairs and put his music box on. Hopefully he will start sleeping through the nights once again. He now has got two teeth in his bottom jaw, but I think one is on it’s way in the upper one too as he has been having teething pains all of today, but atleast it doesn’t keep him awake at night any longer. 5 months

22nd September 2009 by Hellie

I can’t belive I have been a mother for 5 months already. It has gone so fast. Sitting downstairs listening in to the monitor, hearing some snuffly sounds now and again. His cold is still lingering around, but he doesn’t seem to bad. Mine is almost gone, apart from fatigue and feeling a bit Dizzy yesterday I think it didn’t make the MS worse either. (more…)

Tiny snotty nose

19th September 2009 by Hellie

Tycho has a cold for the first time. I really thought when I had my rather long and stubborn cold a month ago that he would catch it but he got away un-bunged up. This time we both seem to have caught a cold at the same time. Mine hasn’t been so bad, mostly had two days of feeling bunged up and had a sore throat. The boy on the other hand wasn’t that lucky. Poor little Tycho sounds like a pug or little bulldog when he is trying to feed. It is quite horrible to think about that tiny tiny nose being filled up with snot and gunk.  He also has a bit of a cough, but he doesn’t seem to be suffering from it too much. Yesterday he was mostly happy and smiley all day, until it came to bedtime that is. Bedtime is still a pain. (more…)

Speaking too soon

6th September 2009 by Hellie

Well well…seems I spoke too soon. This week fizzyness in my leg has moved up to my arm. Had some pains in my hand also one day, but it has been mostly ok. It mostly feels like both arm and leg is slightly “weaker” and fizzy compared to the left side. Annoying! I really do miss the gym now, maybe I can try to have a go at my Wii Fit and hope that Tycho can be amused by watching his old mum jump around and look silly. If anything I should at least dig out my dumb bell and start training the arms again. I must have gotten stronger anyway since I am carrying around a little lump of cute everyday!
