Quick Sunday update

14th June 2009 by Hellie

Well first of all he did put on some weight, but only tiny he is up from 3.55 to 3.66, still under his birth weight. I am hoping to have some help from someone from the breastfeeding network to double check my latch-on really is ok. I don’t think my milk supply is all it should be. Have been looking online to see if this ever can have anything to do to MS and there seem to be nothing proven but I have seen people with MS in forums saying they have had problems with low milk supply, so who knows. I don’t think that is it, but funny enough my left breast always got more milk when I pump and it is my right side that has been effected my my MS is the past, never had any issues on the left, but right leg, arm and torso have all had bouts with MS symptoms during relapses. But like I said I can find nothing that proves that this would be an issue, so it is probably more likely to be my latch on that is an issue.

The return of the enemy

16th April 2009 by Hellie

Having had some time on my own these past days I have thought a bit about what it will be like when my body goes back to “normal”. As much as I have complained about being big and feeling a bit useless in these last weeks, I have loved being pregnant, specially as it seems to have kept the MS “away”. Now I wonder what it will be like say in a months time. Ok my MS hasn’t disappeared I still have my cognition and fatigue problems, but most of the sensory problems I have felt nothing from since maybe June last year. Last relapse was in November 2007,  with the neuro saying that I have been so well I don’t even qualify for drugs anymore should make me really happy. (more…)

NCT Course

31st March 2009 by Hellie

Went to our final NCT course today. This time it was about breastfeeding, sleeping patterns and C-sections.  I have really enjoyed all 3 days that I have gone to, the group is great, the teacher was fab and I am really happy we went. As I mentioned before we were singed up for NHS courses as well. We have since dropped out of these, two reasons mainly; 1 they were on the same day as the NCT courses and it just got a bit too much, I was exhausted the day after, there was also a lot of overlap. 2 there were so many people there that didn’t want to be there, young dads sitting in the back grumbling about being there instead of taking part, girls looking bored rolling their eyes at the questions we were meant to discuss. The Viking Gene

26th March 2009 by Hellie

I keep on mentioning that my grandfather had MS but haven’t really blogged that much about him, and as I have nothing much interesting to tell about myself today I thought I’d let you know a bit about my Farfar (Swedish for grandfather translates to fathers-father). His name was Folke and he was a metalworker spending his day by the lathe. He was the youngest of 5 siblings; they also had one foster brother. His family came from a long line of something called Statare, agricultural laborers that worked without getting paid instead they got to live on the farm. (more…)

Insurance

9th March 2009 by Hellie

Oh very tired today, it was a very busy day at work, and it didn’t help that my lunch break was spent at the bank talking to an insurance guy.  If there is one thing I dislike more than anything it is sorting out insurance. First of all I am very bad with figures and numbers to start with and my attention tend to run away when people start talking about things like insurance. Anyway I had set up this meeting as I wanted to find out about the possibility of having critical illness cover. I have mostly heard no before, when you have MS you are persona non grata for a lot of this. Or they will welcome you with huge open arms, and a just a huge monthly rate to pay. (more…)
