All arrived safely and everything on time. Met the group at Heathrow and everyone gelled immediately over coffee. We had an easy trip up to Tignes and everyone has now got their hire skis and about to go into the bar for a well-earned half glass of weak beer. Hotel is great and there is plenty of snow. Tignes has a new funicular which goes from the village up to the glacier in no time at all which is going to make the distances easier to achieve (I hope).
More tomorrow.

We are gearing up for our next Monster Ski event, which will take place from 3-7 February 2011. We have a team of 9 skiers traveling to Tignes for this exciting challenge, where they will be aiming to ski the height of Mount Everest each day!
We would like to say a big thank you to the 2011 Monster Ski team and wish them all the best of luck.
To follow their progress, please keep an eye on this blog during their challenge.

The MS Trust would like to say a huge thank you to the group of 16 skiers who took part in our third Monster Ski challenge in Whistler this April.
The skiers pushed themselves to their limits to complete this unique 150,000 vertical feet ski challenge, skiing from first lift to last for five days to reach their goals. Despite differing levels of ski expertise, the skiers really pulled together to support each other in completing the distance, which is equivalent to skiing the height of Mount Everest every day.
They also created quite a stir on the slopes, attracting interest from other skiers in Whistler who were affected by MS and helping to raise awareness of the condition.
Our 2010 Monster Ski team have already raised £20,000 to fund the work of the MS Trust and money is still coming in. Thank you again to them all for their determination and commitment in completing the ski challenge and for raising valuable funds, which will be of huge benefit for people living with MS.
Special thank should go to Mike Laver, who came up with the idea for the Monster Ski challenge after his own MS diagnosis left him wondering how he could help others in the same position. Mike has now skied over 500,000 vertical feet for MS since his first Monster Ski in 2007 and he has played a huge part in making Monster Ski the success it has been for the MS Trust. Monster Ski has now raised over £245,000 to help fund our work.

We are now recruiting for our next Monster Ski challenge, which will take places in Tignes from 27-31 January 2011. If you would like to be part of this unique event and experience the excitement of Monster Ski for yourself, please get in touch or visit the Monster Ski website.

An absolutely awesome day with outstanding achievements from everybody, which surpassed all expectations. All participants were able to achieve the Gold Standard of 150,000 vertical feet in just 5 days, including even those who had initially set themselves the Silver target of 100,000 feet. Elise and Graham, in particular, will remember the effort they expended in completing the challenge for a very long time – they should be congratulated for it as it was an incredible achievement.
Special mention should also go to Wynford Harris who was able to complete the challenge on his new knee and to Keith Miles for his commitment. Whistler has been a great resort to undertake the 3rd Monster Ski for the MS Trust. Despite occasional poor weather, the snow remained skiable throughout the week and all Monster Skiers came off the mountain on the last day exalting at how they had all enjoyed the skiing challenge. The Monster Ski Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony is this evening.
