Gym Bunny

17th May 2010 by helena

I have not been able to go running for 2 weeks! I know awful, lazy lazy girl! But I have had a very nasty cold complete with incredible Hulk snot (to carry on the superhero theme). I only felt better this weekend. So today I went to the gym during my lunch break. It was a bit stressed to fit it all in, and wolf down some food afterwards, but it all worked in the end.

My MSy leg have been feeling a bit weaker than it normally does, during the work out and for a few hours afterwards. Hopefully it will get better as I get fitter. Well I expect it will always act up a little, but hopefully it will go back to just feeling funny during the actual run and not afterwards.

I am now doing 3 mins jog, walk 90 s, jog 5 min walk 2. 30 mins. It was the first time I tried doing this and surprisingly after a 2 weeks break it was still ok. I guess it pays to have a toddler to run after…

Now bath and then bed!

Bleh

1st May 2010 by helena

Not feeling great today. Scratchy throat and a sniffy nose, I slept badly and I guess if we are going to be very personal it is the wrong time of the month too. All things that brings out the MS monster. Apart from fatigue it hasn’t been to bad. When I went for my run earlier on (I didn’t have the snotty issue then) my strange MS effected leg was burning a bit. Thankfully no pins and needles just yet. Think it will be an early night for me and lots of fruits and vitamins tomorrow so I hopefully chase the cold away in time for work on Tuesday. It is very typical of me to catch a cold first week back at work…I always used to do the same thing at school when there had been some time off. Rubbish I am!

Run went ok btw, next time we are amping the running up to 5 mins.

running and working

29th April 2010 by helena

Well I didn’t get to go running until today. I was hoping to have it in me to go for a run after my son gone to bed, but by 19.30 every night this week I have been ready to go to bed myself. I think it is safe to say that my fatigue is back, and I guess it is really clear to me now that is is not brought on by physical work but mental. Sitting in front of a computer thinking hard (oh well trying to anyway ;) )all day makes me a owner of one fuzzy foggy brain and that makes me so exhausted.

So I went for a run this morning before my husband went to work instead. It went ok, but I had a little of a knee pain.

Next week I hope to go and sign up to the gym. I have missed the gym a lot!

Last run of freedom

25th April 2010 by helena

Tomorrow I go back to work! I have been away on maternity leave for just over a year. It really has been great. But now I am returning 3 days a week. I am planning on rejoining my gym again and going at least twice a week during my lunch-breaks. I find it is great for beating fatigue, and with this running malarkey I guess I have to find my time somewhere, so running on a treadmill from time to time will have to do. I have been pretty good with getting up and going out for a run at 7.30, but I doubt I would find it in myself to be able to get up at 6.30 to get a run in before work. Lets face it that would get old rather quickly!

Today it was the first time I ran for longer than 90 s. Programme now went 5 min warm up, 90 s run, 90 s walk, 3 min run, 3 min walk times 2 and then 5 min cool down. It actually felt really good, so I must be doing something right!
