Vision problems in MS
Trimble V, MS Specialist Orthoptist, The Walton Centre, Liverpool
Eye movement disorders are commonly seen in MS. The resultant symptoms can be extremely debilitating, affecting activities of daily living and mobility. The presentation will give an overview of the anatomy of the cranial nerves and eye muscles involved in normal eye movement. The defects resulting from the demyelination of these nerves will be described, and then demonstrated with the aid of videos. A variety of treatment methods will be outlined, allowing members of multi-disciplinary teams to be aware of the management possibilities for their patients.
