Localising the MS Commissioning Pathway

Local development process

Your local PCT, Trust, SHA or other sponsoring organisation can take the pathway developed and work with a wide range of local stakeholders such as neurologists, GPs, commissioners, MS specialist nurses to develop a pathway that defines the locally agreed care that will be commissioned for your population of patients with MS. This will include both those patients with a new diagnosis of MS and those with relapsing and remitting MS symptoms.

The advantages of localising the MS Commissioning Pathway

Localising the pathway will enable local health economies to have discussions about the shape and provision of local services commissioned for their patients with MS. This pathway will then reflect the commissioned provision of services from self care, to primary care to specialist care and into sub / supra specialist care.

How can localisation of the MS Commissioning Pathway be achieved?

The pathway for patients with MS sits on a website behind which sits a web based pathway development tool.

The template pathway can be replicated and then localised by appointing a lead local author and some local reviewers / contributors.

Your own local pathway/s can then be developed containing local information and hyperlinks.

Once a local pathway has been developed it can be accessed via the hyperlink on the pathways for health website but also displayed on your own PCT, Trust or SHA website.

The pathway can be updated and amended at anytime by the local author.

What will localisation of the MS Commissioning Pathway cost?

Further information about how to access a licence to develop your pathway can be accessed via the Pathways For Health website or by emailing info@pathwaysforhealth.org.

Licences to develop pathways can be purchased on an individual per pathway basis or on a whole PCT, PBC, SHA wide basis and the cost of the licence will reflect your requirements. The purchase of a licence to develop local pathway/s aims to be affordable.
