A qualitative study of what people with multiple sclerosis want from an occupational therapy service
Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Centre, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine, Ayrshire
The role of the occupational therapist within the management of multiple sclerosis is of paramount importance with the focus on the whole person. However, there is a lack of evidence to show how people with MS have been involved in the development of occupational therapy services.
The key aim of this study is to determine the needs of people with multiple sclerosis and what they would want from an occupational therapy service. The results of the study will be used to develop a framework to be used in the planning and delivery of a service which meets the needs of users, both at a local and national level.
The study began early in 2007 and will be completed by the end of the year.
