Trek the Pyrenees from France to Spain along a WWII escape route. This 4-day mountain trek will be a tough but rewarding challenge, with real historical significance. At the same time you will be raising vital sponsorship to help people living with MS today.
This stunning but demanding trek in the Pyrenees starts in France, following the route of the 'Chemin de la Liberté'. You will trek in the footsteps of the many allied servicemen and Jewish refugees escaping Nazi occupied France during WWII and see memorials to some of the local people who risked their lives to help them.
This trek is challenging and steep, the hardest day sees you ascend 1500m. The route provides some spectacular mountain scenery, through beech forests, past mountain lakes and along rocky ridges. You explore remote trails ascending to 2522m before descending into Spain.
You will be carrying your own kit for part of the trek to enable you to get away from the beaten tracks of the Pyrenees and follow an exact wartime escape route. This truly is an inspirational trek offering an insight into the hardships endured and bravery of all those who escaped, those who helped and those who sadly did not make it to safety.
