Can I cycle with friends?

YES! The bike ride is ideal for groups and teams.

How fit do I need to be?

People from all walks of life will take part in this challenge and most people won't have done anything like this before. You can take part even if you're new to cycling, however it is vital that you train in the months leading up to the ride so that you get the most out of it. We will send you a suggested 16-week training plan and will be on hand to help you with any training advice.

Can I take part if I have MS?

Cyclists alongside a canalMany people with MS take part in our treks and cycle rides without any problems, but this is a challenge event so you do need to be generally fit and have a good level of mobility. If you wish to take part using an adapted cycle, please get in touch. We always suggest that you check with your doctor before signing up to the trip if you have MS or any other pre-existing medical condition. If this trip isn't for you, perhaps you might be interested in some of our more accessible events such as Santa Run, My Garden Party, Be Bold in Blue.

Will I be able to raise the sponsorship money?

You can achieve this if you put the effort in and we fully recommend you start fundraising as soon as possible so hopefully you will raise above the minimum sponsorship. Once you've started you'll be surprised how generous people are and how fun raising the sponsorship can actually be! Again remember we are here to help throughout and can always suggest new hints and tips to help you reach your fundraising target. See how we can help you fundraise to get you started.

What happens if I don't raise the minimum sponsorship?

We set a minimum sponsorship amount as we have to pay the costs of your place from what you raise. You would need to have raised 80% of the minimum sponsorship 12 weeks before the event otherwise you would lose your place. We would ask that you do as much as you can to reach the target and be prepared to top it up yourself if you don't manage to raise it in sponsorship.

Will you help me?

YES! The tour operators will provide one main contact who will be on hand to help you in the lead up to the event. You will be sent access to a full confirmation site shortly after you register on the event which will give you all the information you need, but both the tour operators and the MS Trust are just a phone call away, aiming to make the trip as enjoyable and hassle free as possible from start to finish. There may also be an opportunity to meet your fellow cyclists at a gathering before the event.

What about food and drink?

Cyclists on a roadBreakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided throughout the trip except for 2 meals (dinner on the ferry to Calais and lunch in Amsterdam on our last day). We can of course cater for vegetarians and other dietary requirements as long as you let the tour operators know in advance.

What do I need to bring?

The tour operators will provide you with a full kit list when you sign up to your challenge. A bike you are comfortable cycling long distances on and cycle helmet are essential!

Will you carry my luggage whilst I'm cycling?
