We need a bee like Jean!

Published on

Kelly Boston who works on our Community Fundraising team was inspired this week by a very busy queen bee in Hull who has raised over £100,000 for Age UK. Meet Jean, 'The Bee Lady'.

Every day I speak with MS Trust supporters who want to get involved and make a difference for people living with MS. Over the three years I have worked here at the MS Trust I have supported some amazing and inspiring people raising funds for the MS Trust in their own way - from climbing mountains, organising coffee mornings and growing beards, to tap dancing!

As a Community Fundraiser I am always on the lookout for that “special something” which will encourage people to get involved. This is when I came across the lovely story about a 94-year-old called Jean who raises funds for Age UK. Jean is just amazing, she has raised a fantastic £110,000 over the years in her local community.

However, Jean does have a secret weapon – she is wearing a homemade bee costume and greets each person with a huge smile. As you can imagine this really does draw some attention. Jean loves dressing up as the bee, talking to people and raising money for the cause that she cares about.

Here at the MS Trust we are totally committed to making a difference for everyone affected by MS, but we need your help to ensure that we are able to continue our work. Could you be our MS Trust bee? (Costume optional of course!)

If you would like to get involved in raising funds to support people with MS, please get in touch with our Community Fundraising team on 01462 476707 or fundraising@mstrust.org.uk. We’re here to support you with your fundraising every step of the way.
