All about Gift Aid

The Gift Aid scheme enables us to reclaim tax from HM Revenue & Customs for donation by a UK taxpayer, helping the money go further for MS.

All you have to do is to make a Gift Aid declaration with your full name and home address details.

Can you claim Gift Aid on my donations?

To qualify for Gift Aid, you must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax equal to the tax we will reclaim on your donations. To enable us to claim Gift Aid on your personal donations, please download the Gift Aid declaration form and return it to the MS Trust.

Can you claim Gift Aid on donations or sponsor money I collect from others?

Yes, as long as the people who donate money or sponsor you make their own Gift Aid declarations - your personal declaration cannot apply to money you have collected from others.

If you are planning to ask for sponsorship or donations for an event or occasion, please contact us so we can send you a simple personalised sponsor form to collect details for Gift Aid. Alternatively, you can download and print the form below and use it to collect details of anyone who donates:

Advantages of Gift Aid for you

  • Your gift is worth more to the MS Trust, at no extra cost to you
  • If you pay higher rate tax, you can claim tax back back on all gross Gift Aid donations made each tax year.
  • If you are 65 or older, your gross Gift Aid donations are deducted from your taxable income, this may increase your age related allowances.
  • You can include Gift Aid donations on your Tax Credit application; because the donations reduce your taxable income you may be awarded more tax credits.
