Secret Art Show - Are you an artist who would like to contribute?
About the Secret Art Show...
The first Secret Art Show was held in York in November 2010 and raised £20,000 for the MS Trust. This unique exhibition gave visitors the chance to buy a mini-masterpiece for only £45. All pieces of artwork were the same size, fitting into a CD case and were sold anonymously in aid of the MS Trust.
The exhibition was such a success that the MS Trust decided to extend the idea to allow everyone to take part, which is why we launched the Secret Art Show online!
Secret Art Show 2013
We are now planning for the next exhibition which will be launched in June 2013. All the art will be displayed in our online gallery and will be available for people to purchase for £45 plus P&P. If you choose to donate a piece of art to the Secret Art Show, you will be helping us to make a real difference for the 100,000 people living with MS in the UK. How do I get involved?
We are asking artists to paint or create a small piece of art 12cm x 12cm (the artwork is to fit a CD case) and sign and date the back. All the paintings will be sold anonymously for £45 each and only when someone has purchased the painting will the identity of the artist be revealed. We will send you art paper cut to size and ask you to use this paper if possible. If you are using other art mediums, please ensure the work measures 12cm x 12cm. Please ensure your art work is signed on the back so that you cannot be identified until after purchase remember this is the Secret Art Show!
When planning your submission, it is worth considering that the piece will need to be electronically scanned to be shown in the online gallery. Images which are very pale in colour don't always replicate as well on screen. We are extremely grateful to all artists who participate and want to you to get something from the experience too. To ensure you get maximum exposure from the Secret Art Show, please complete the Artist Information Sheet we send you and we will highlight your participation on our Artist page. If you can help us promote the exhibition, or recruit other artists, via your blogs, social media pages and/or newsletters, please do. We want the Secret Art Show 2013 to be the biggest and best yet!
Why should I take part?
We hope to raise £25,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust this year. The Secret Art Show has raised over £66,000 since 2010 to support the work of the MS Trust; funding vital education and support for MS nurses and therapists; the most up-to-date and reliable information for people affected by MS and practical research that benefits those living with MS now. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common cause of neurological disability in young adults, affecting 100,000 people in the UK. The MS Trust is committed to ensuring everyone affected by MS has the health information they need to maximise their quality of life and securing access for all to the specialist services they need.
