The London Network for Nurses and Midwives has produced a comprehensive toolkit for nurses about how to get to grips with commissioning. This has the clearest explanation of the commissioning process available anywhere, and its implications for nurses and their services. It also gives explicit guidance on how to use the process to your advantage.
Although focused on primary care, the principles outlined in this document are applicable in any NHS context.
