Al and Bee's Mission:100

10 March 2021

Siblings Al and Bee (9 and 8 years old) have been inspired to help those affected by multiple sclerosis by taking part in Mission:100 this year. Mission:100 is an MS Trust exclusive event where we ask our amazing supporters to raise £100 is 100 days for the 100+ people diagnosed each week with MS. With the help of their parents they have set themselves the immense challenge of running 8 marathons in 12 weeks! We asked them what had inspired them to take part and how they were finding their mission.

With both a stepfather and an uncle who have been diagnosed with MS, we are both very aware of the MS Trust and the work they do. The MS Trust have helped us as they have brilliant booklets designed for children which have helped us understand MS a lot better, and how it can affect our family. We wanted to help raise awareness of the MS Trust whilst also raising money to help other people, and their families.

We go running every week with our parents, especially when we have had to do school from home, and so we decided to challenge ourselves. Our uncle and aunt have run marathons in the past to raise money for the MS Trust, and we really liked that idea. We tried to work out how many marathons we could run in 12 weeks, and decided that 8 would be a good challenge!

Our favourite runs are when we go off road. We get muddy and wet running through the puddles, and we have a game where we try to make big splashes to soak our parents. It was especially fun when the puddles were iced over and we had to break the ice. It can be hard to get up and run, or run when it is cold outside. We have a warm bath and a hot chocolate or Bovril to warm up afterwards though, and that helps us to go out even in the cold.

Al and Bee have raised an incredible amount for the MS Trust, which will go towards helping those affected by MS.
