25 years of the MS Trust

MS Trust timeline

1993

The MS Trust, originally the MS Research Trust, is founded by Chris Jones and Jill Holt.

1995

Our first publication, The MS Information Pack, is sent out to every neurologist in the country.

1997

We hold our first annual Conference for health professionals working in MS and Open Door is published for the first time.

1998

The MS Trust Enquiry Service is launched.

2000

We run the first foundation training course for MS nurses.

2002

We help set up the MS Risk Sharing Scheme, enabling people with MS to access DMDs.

2004

Our new books MS Explained and Exercises for people with MS are published.

2006

We work with the Royal College of Physicians on the first of three audits into the state of MS services in the UK.

2007

We launch our Move it for MS DVD with Mr Motivator.

2008

Our Women’s guide to sex and MS wins a BMA Patient Information Award.

2010

We produce a new book for families affected by MS, Talking with your kids about MS.

2012

We begin GEMSS, a project to generate evidence for the value of MS specialist nurses.

2016

We publish the results of our Is MS Care Fair report, highlighting inequalities in MS services for people with progressive MS.

2017

We appoint the first MS Trust-funded MS specialist nurse and launch our Advanced MS Champion Programme.

2018

We launch MSTV, our YouTube channel for young people affected by MS.
